Happy new year. I hope that 2012 will be a good year for everyone!!!
I found some of the work I did for Blink TV on the internet. I was compiling and editing the graphics for the screens behind the performers on the Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball 2011 main stage.
I would speed up, change colour and overlay the supplied graphic elements from the After Effects artists.I followed the formula of playing it safe on the verse, get a bit funky on the choruses, go crazy on the ‘middle eight’ section of the song ( the middle eight is the guitar / drum solo / funky bit two thirds of the way through a pop song..) and go hell for leather on the chorus finale.
Here is a JLS performance in which I used the ‘RGB Range’ filter very heavily in Final Cut Pro 7..
And here is another JLS song where I used a lot of ‘fit to fill’ in Final Cut Pro to speed sections up to the beat.
I also used a white matte over one section and cut it into 1 frame slices and then set the opacity to 70% to create a night club strobe effect. it had to be set to 70% opacity to dampen it down incase it caused problems for sufferers of photosensitive epilepsy.
I did a lot more for Rizzle Kicks, Wretch 32 and Olly Murs but the two above are my favourite.
Rihanna was the headline act but she supplied her own screen videos so i didn’t get to work on stuff for her..
PS. It goes without saying that the After Effects designers were the real creative stars. They supplied the footage for myself and Alex to put together, to the beat, with the director, Helen.
